oh yea

Radiators - I forgot. The gold E300 needed a new radiator at around 220k when a crack came up underneath the upper radiator nozzle. The crack actually looked like it was in the vertical seam underneath the neck. JB Weld slowed it down but I ended up replacing the radiator. The silver E300 lost it's original radiator at 284k miles in the accident a couple months ago.

would that be the proof you are asking about?
Yes, proof the issue was resolved.

You sure are.

A good example of this is the "runaway Toyota". Without sources available to publicize and sensationalize the isolated incidents, the 0.1% of people it actually happened to would be the only people to know about it (and every one of the incidents could have been stopped by shifting to neutral and turning off the ignition).

That is absolutely correct. Disastrous happens when the driver ignores signs of failure (white smoke, oil consumption, coolant consumption, milky coolant/oil, external leaks), and continues to push it.

Which is the reason for inspection. The car is 20 years old and it could have already been changed any time in its past.

Diagnosis is what separates good mechanics from part swapping monkeys.
only way to know if the vacuum pump is the updated version is to remove it and visually inspect the bearing. Stop being angry at everyone.

Hence the reason for saying "Which is the reason for inspection. The car is 20 years old and it could have already been changed any time in its past."

Excuse Me (Thread HiJack)

David,

Perfect Exterior Color!

You might sift through the R.O.s and see:
1.if the MonoWiper has ever been dis-assembled Cleaned and Lubed.
2.Same,Same for the Lifting/Sliding Sunroof.[DO MUCH STUDY Before Hand !]
[See GSXR's Pictures]
(Check condition of the little Felt Covered Rubber "Feet" the Roof slides on.)
3.The Automatic Electric Antenna for the Radio will last longer if the Mast is
Cleaned and Lubed frequently.

Nice car David. It looks like a duplicate of mine. Let me know if you have any questions. Maybe I have already dealt with an issue and can help you out.

If you have any problems with boost check out the wastegate mod post for the OM602. Great info.

Nice looking car!

follow up

Winmutt, I appreciate the ideas. On the vac pump from what I gathered so far I plan on leaving is alone until 200k. It's at 177k now.

Forced induction, timing chain stretch - good thought.

Sixto, no indication in the records that the radiator has been replaced. If there was a 90c mark that's where the guage stays on a hot day with the ac on at 60mph. In my short time owning it it has stayed below 95c.

Compress ignite, never heard of such on the mono wiper. Glad you mentioned it.

Old Wolf, Thanks for the offer. Also I just got an invite and joined the 2.5 group.

Bobodaclown, I'm very interested in the wastegate mod. I read through the long wastegate thread a couple of times. After I get a better feel for the car and the new wears off I plan to do this mod.

The FSM covers testing the P2 system with a multi meter and scope. I will be doing this myself with a DIY sometime in the near future.

It's well worth it if you're having boost troubles.
