Question I can't get my alda off! How?!

I went out this morning and tried to take my alda off, I used my 27mm wrench and turned the big nut, but it just moves the alda with the nut, I can't get a grip on the alda itself to stop it from turning. Is there some sort of secret way to get this thing out? I got some shims and now I want to use them! Help??

If you can keep the wrench from moving, you can tap the alda itself gently with a hammer to get it off.

Wink

You should be able to get your alda off by turning the nut under it. Make sure that you are turning the nut the right direction (clockwise). You can hold the alda so it will not turn with a large pair of channel locks (careful). The nut stays with the IP.

The big nut on the IP goes clockwise? Or the one thats part of the alda? I found that the big one came loose by going counter clockwise, and thus the alda would have to go clockwise....or do I have it backwards. I did try hammering at it a while too, I tried all kinds of things, it just wouldn't budge. I also drenched it in PB blaster, didn't help.

If you hold the alda so it will not turn, the nut that is between the alda and the IP should be turned clockwise to loosen the alda.

if you need the sizes- the nut is 27mm and the alda is 24mm.

Thanks guys, I got it off by turning it the right way (big nut clockwise ) Came off no problem. It already had a shim in it (a thin one) so I added the thickest one I have to that one, wow...mega improvement A um...*bit* (small cloud) of black smoke IF I floor it when I take off from a standstill, otherwise no smoke, and it idles smoother and the power on the freeway is better, feels like it doesn't have to work as hard to pile on the mph's I will adjust the screw clockwise a bit to try and reduce my take off smoke, but overall I like how its responding now! 0-40mph feel is incredible! It takes off quick! I should do a 0-60 and time it...I'll try to soon.

I'm going to experiment on my CD and D when I adjust them; 0-60 times and stuff like that before and after to try and see just how much of an improvement it makes.

also for that to work you'd have to remove the other vacuum devices bolted to the top of the pump to give it room to spin.

Yep! I had to out of curiosity I drove around my street a bit, doing floor-it take offs and stuff, only small clouds of smoke, nothing significant overall, but a lot more than before. Then I took it out on the road, and it performed great! Its slightly lessened now that I put the alda back on with another shim, I need to adjust it though, it still puffs pretty good if I floor it. Acceleration was (still is) quite excellent. All the stuff in my center console slides to the back of it when I take off, and goes flying forward when I slow down.
