W123 - License Plate Light lens/fixture repair...

Just in case you are not aware of them, there are a group of DIY articles available from MercedesShop.Com that will not show up in any SEARCH of the FORUM archives. Take a look at:
http://www.peachparts.com/Wikka

Now to the subject of this POST and my " Wikka " DIY article that is available at:
http://www.peachparts.com/Wikka/W123LicenseLights
I know there are a lot of you DIYers who also have/use digital cameras so I want to encourage you to document your next DIY MBZ project pictorially and consider writing it up just as I did with this simple License Plate light lens repair project. Give back to the FORUM by adding to this GREAT DIY resource that is closely related via its sponsor MercedesShop.Com... and don't worry about grammatical correctness... let your pictures tell your project's story !
Enjoy,

I like the cork gasket. I'll see if I can get around to making a few of those, they can be very informative.

That is an elegant little repair Samuel. Some of the simplest repairs can be the most useful!
Thanks...

I pulled the 2 out of the parts car today, and besides having a little stain from rust of the wire/pins they are completely intact. They have some type of little sleeve that goes through the holes. I'll attach a pic in a minute or two....

Lamp Housing Gasket

The lamp housing was removed to drain the water inside. When installed back, made the mistake of installing the left side of the holder to the right side causing the housing to break at the flange. The flange break was repaired with Locktite 408 instant bond adhesive and a splice made of the gasket material. Water got inside due to the deteriorated gasket.

Materials used were leftovers from previous projects.
