Think I'm gonna fab a receiver hitch
Anybody fabricated their own receiver hitch? I'm thinking of fabbing my own out of 2" square tubing and using some flat steel to fab mounts that bolt up to the bumper shock mounts. Anybody done this yet that could give some pointers and/or post some pictures?

I fabbed one up for my 240D. Its not pretty but it works. I used 3 inch square tubing, made an L shape, and welded it to a piece of plate that bolted into the bumper shock holes. I also went through the plate with bolts to another plate on the inside of the trunk for some serious overkill. I would not recommend drilling holes in a nice car tho, mine is definitely a beater.

Then I'll hang the reciever tube to the bottom of that and have the reciever tube extend forward under the tire well where it will attach to a plate bolted to the bottom side of the tire well. Basically it will have 3 mounting points - one at each bumper shock, and one under the spare tire well. That way it would be up high enough to not block the area where the exhaust pipe needs to exit out the back.
