Is it just me or is the MercedesShop site become very slow overall ?

I used to get lighting fast reactions and now everything takes several seconds, sometimes a minute or two for pages to change or come up.
What's up ?

I have been noticing the same thing. The site now provides more user info. Could that be the cause?

Our site volume has increased a huge amount over the last 3 or 4 weeks. We are now averaging 12,000 page requests per day with peaks around 16,000. This is a lot of traffic!

More than likely we will have to move to a dedicated server to handle the continued growth. This will cost big bucks but, if we can grow PartsShop sales we will be able to afford it.

Today our site was down because one of UUNET's routers was down which caused problems for LOTS of people on the internet...not just our site.

Bill what kind of dedicated server were you planning on doing? Have you looked into setting up a co-location server on someone else's OC3 backbone?

I've got my web designer meeting with reps from different co-location companies about setting up a server on their OC3 in order to host my customer's websites.

I know its not cheap either, but if the amount of people we have to put on it warrants the expense, we will be doing it.

Setting up with a co-location seems very ideal because I believe they manage the server and all for you, you just keep the content up on it.

In anycase,

Keep up the good work.

I hope to be ordering some needed maintenance items from parts shop soon.

Alon
