Fast Lane?

I have a list of MB parts I would like to order and it struck me that with such a good GBP to USD exchange rate I should consider purchasing from FastLane.

Normally I purchase direct from my local MB dealer and so I have a couple of questions reagrding FastLane that maybe you guys can help with before I make oficial contact?

1. Are the parts OEM
2. Will FastLane ship to the UK
3. Are parts likely to be hit for duty and what's the duty level
4. Experiences with FastLane in general - I've heard good reports

I'm specifically interested in buying a new 7 slate grille and so due to it's cost here in the UK (can't seem to find any on eBay) potential savings lure me to
purchase abroad.

Thanks for any comments

Lea

Post these questions to Phil, who is the FastLane parts guy!

There is a forum here entitled "Fastlane Feedback" where you can get these answers from the man himself.

Or you can talk to Phil via the FastLane hotline...1-888-333-4642

1) Most of our parts are made by the same manufacturers who supply Mercedes but, they do not have the "star" on them. If you want genuine Mercedes parts WITH the star, you will have to specify this when you place your order with Phil. We have several quality suppliers we use.

2) Unfortunately no. We only sell/ship within the US.

3) See #2

4) There are some posts by Fastlane customers in the Fastlane Feedback Forum...good and bad. We've been selling parts on MercedesShop since 1999 so we're in it for the long haul.

It's a moot point because we ONLY sell in the USA.

Thanks for your comments.

Why only sell to the US? Surely you're not bound by any dealer objections/regulations?

Many of my Jap motor colleagues can purchase from the US no problem and of course benefit from the huge savings....

Will FastLane deliver to a US PO address?

If one (whether UK or US resident) were to purchase a grille, surely this would have to be an authentic MB part as I can't imagine other suppliers producing these?

Cheers
Lea

We used to ship worldwide but it was such a PITA and such a small part of our business that we decided to stop doing it. For example, core returns are not practical because of the high shipping cost. Worldwide shipping was less than 1% of our business and over 50% of our headaches.

No, we only deliver to street addresses. UPS, FedEX DHL, etc will not deliver to PO boxes.

Some items are only available from Mercedes-Benz. For those items, we source directly from Mercedes-Benz.

Hi Bill

Sorry to hear about the low international sales volumes - I can see why you gave up.

However, I'm looking specifically for a grille and the Viscous coupling unit for a 129067 and I would expect reasonable saving if purchased from the US.

I'm thinking of using the UKs Parcel2Go 'US address' service (http://www.parcel2go.com/moreinfo.asp) which provides a US address - I simply guessed it was a PO box but it might not be - I may need to investigate further.

Should I contact you direct to discuss further?

Thanks
Lea

Unfortunately I must respectfully decline your business.

Our credit card processor is set to only accept US credit cards with US billing addresses. They charge a higher credit card fee to accept non-US cards because of the risk.

I can understand because we got burned a few times with international credit cards back when we used to accept them.

I have to say how disappointed I am but I do respect your decision.

Thanks.
