Bill,

Is there a problem with the login page for the PartsShop Account? I have tried several times to log on to the account today, but I am not recognized. This happened from two different computers (office & home). The computer remembers my password, when I try to log in, the page comes back telling me the login name is incorrect.

I'm going to try again before I take off to run errands.

I tried to Login myself and it worked fine. I did, however, install a minor software upgrade this week so that may have caused the problem. I really don't know.

I had a problem last night and today loging in. It also says not recognized.

I ended up just creating a new account in the same login name and password. Apparently somehow the account was deleted, confirmed by the fact that the new account in the old login/password was accepted. The only thing lost was the order history.

My old order history is also unavailable when trying to access by order number. I did receive email regarding receipt of the last order so I'm not worried about it.

Problem Fixed! (hopefully)

I think I found the source of the PartsShop customer account deletion issue!

I installed a minor upgrade to the PartsShop software on Jan 10, 2001. I just noticed that all customers who have placed orders since then have blanks in their LOGIN.
After digging through 3,000 lines of code I found 3 errors that are most likely the cause of the problem.

Since I do not know what each customer's original LOGIN was, I reset each of them. That means that you will have to select the "lost password e-mail" to get your Login and password. All order history should be intact.

Lost Order

While all this was going on I seem to have lost a order. It was order 1742. Can I its status added back to the system or is it gone ? I ordered it on the 10th.

Dave,

Did you receive the email that confirmed your order? I did, so I believe there should be no problem with it, except you can't track it.

As I understand Bill's latest response, there was a problem after the upgrade, wherein those who placed an order, somehow deleted. Try to log in again, you will not be recognized, then select "send me my password". Once Bill has the original login names of the deleted parties, he will be able to restore the database and the order history will be intact as well.

Never any worry

Bill & Dave,

Got home from work, and my parts were waiting patiently at my doorstep. The glitch did not effect delivery.

No orders were lost! The software glitch only caused me to have to reset some people's UserNames. You can always click on the lost password e-mail to have your UserName and Password e-mailed to you.

By the way, according to UPS, your order arrived in Atlanta yesterday and will be delivered today (1/16). All of this tracking info is in our system.

Bill,
I just ordered the overvolt relay this evening and had to make a new username and password again? Does this really matter? Is there a record you keep for big customers or something? It doesn't really matter to me I suppose, I always get that part!
I am finally fed up with the darn thing not starting when warm and stalling again today at a traffic light after a violent shudder of the car.
Again, this is the BEST website I could ever imagine. How do you have time to do EVERYTHING that you do? Seems like you are always replying instantly to everything, along with the many many other things you are doing with the site and whatnot.
Boy would I LOVE to come to the MB Autowerks opening later this Spring, but it's sooo far! And I wouldn't want to fly because I would have to take the Mercedes! We'll see...

Remember, FastLane and PartsShop are TOTALLY separate stores. This was your first order on FastLane so you had to set up a new account. Your previous orders were in PartsShop.
