I was just thinkin'...the Tech Forum section is gettin' a bit cluttered nowadays...maybe we should move some of the posts, i.e. the requests for info on Euro headlights, to the Performance Paddock? I think there have been a lot of posts regarding that particular subject in that section already...and maybe some of the opinion threads, etc. etc. should go in other sections...maybe a little friendly reminder might be in order? I think we had quite a spirited argument over this topic a while ago? Just didn't want it to boil up again...that is all...thanx for the attention!

I agree...the Tech Help Forum is getting so many posts that it often goes beyond a page of new posts in only a single day.

Euro headlights, Xenon conversion kits, et al has been a big topic for quite a while. I think there are over 900 posts that discuss lighting. There may be enough interest to create a Lighting Forum...sort of like Wheels & Tires.
What do others think?

The other thing we could do is create the infamous BS forum that is open to just shoot the breeze on any topic. That would clear a lot of the chatter out of Tech Help.

We're open to ideas...

I think the problem is that the Performance Paddock and Featured Cars should be a little broader in its coverage. i.e. I think Performance Paddock should not only cover performance enhancements, but also any sort of general visual enhancements such as bodykits and lighting, etc. etc. I believe it should be added to the description. Furthermore, Featured Cars maybe should be changed to "Mercedes News and Updates", where people can discuss things such as that recent crash test that was posted in the Tech Forum, or new models that just came out, etc. etc. I don't think we need a major restructure, just a little better explanation/description of each of the forums and their intentions. Thanx for listening...maybe adding a forum called "Life with a Mercedes" might be good for just general chat about life, living with the car, etc. etc...

Possibly rename Tech help" to Tech Help (only)", and "Performance" to "Performance, Pics, and Styling"? If it would help, maybe I/We could put together a DIY or Feature article listing the differences in Euro lights, and an article on installation, with maybe an organized table of links to all the previos threads and off site articles, bulb mnfrs, etc. This light topic comes up about every 3-6 months and goes on for several weeks! If there were an article under one of the tabs, most headlight questions could be answered with "see above tab".

I am just new on this forum, but from what I have seen, you should create a new section for all kind of different light-questions and problems. There are so many questions about euro lights, xenon/HID modifications, interchangeable euro lenses and dashlight problems, that it should be possible to create a complete new section far that (lights only).

The performance paddock should cover the body kits as well; most of the performance modifications one makes has to de with the styling of the car rather than installing turbo's, high performance chips and what-so-ever...

But, what do I know, I am only a member for nearly a month...

greetingz,

I agree with our friend in Holland. A title which would hopefully draw any kind of lighting question would be very good.

Have a great day,

I agree with the clutter stuff! Taking an extra moment to look at ALL the forums to see where your topic would be appropriate I think can keep the clutter down. I also agree with renaming or expanding the forums. Just my thoughts from Silicon Valley! Josie's Dad

The more posts the better. This is the only site where you get so many posts you can skip some topics and stil find some interesting posts to feed your Mercedes tech addiction. Who cares where it's posted?

Open Discussion Forum - open for business

We just added the Open Discussion Forum. Now there's a place to post all of the "off-topic" stuff. Several members have been asking for a "BS" forum for quite a while.

Non-Mercedes forums

Right now we are grouping all non-Mercedes discussion in the Open Discussion forum HOWEVER...

If there is enough demand AND someone wants to moderate we would be willing to create forums for Audi, BMW, Porsche, VW, Lexus, WHATEVER!

Maybe we'll do a new MercedesShop poll to see what the demand is.

Any thoughts on this topic appreciated.

Tech Help is still getting clustered! Maybe there needs to be a reminder that TECH HELP is for tech help only and to alleviate your other posts to the open discussion or the appropriate forum. I'm real keen on organization, so maybe this just bother me!
Anyway, just a thought.

Also Bill, what about 1000 posts + = Grande Senior Member or something similar?

Bill - do a survey and see what the "other car" is that most members own and set up a forum for that brand. One thing about it - if it is Honda there won't be much activity
