How Can I Disable the ShopForum Gallery?

The ShopForum Gallery is a very nice feature with lots of neat pictures. I offer my complements on it.

I am, however, in the boondocks on a 22Kbaud dial up. Nothing else is available out here and a satellite is not practical for me at this time.

The time that it chews up every time I change forums or open a thread is just ABSOLUTELY KILLING ME! Is there a way for me to disable it to speed up my surfing through the forum? I have tried disabling images and such in the Internet Options of IE, but it still runs very slow to a point that I can see no change.

Thanks for any help you can offer. I really hate to start curtailing my mercedesshop activity, but if I can't speed things up then that will be the result.

Thanks very much for any help you can offer,

Here are some options...

Based on your feedback I have 2 possible solutions to offer you

1) There are now 2 different "styles" you can use to view the Shop Forum. "Normal" style which includes all the bells & whistles and "Low Graphics" style which cuts out many of the graphics and omits the ShopForum Gallery.

To select your style look in the lower left corner of the Shop Forum for the box that says "-- Normal ShopForum Style". Change this setting to "-- Low graphics - Dialup style (no Gallery)".

2) Since the ShopForum Gallery images only appear on the opening page of the Shop Forum you can avoid that page. Rather than going back to the forums home page each time to change forums, simply use the "Forum Jump" feature that is in the lower right corner of each forum page.

I may eventually remove the gallery pictures from the opening page but, at least for now while the feature is new I would like to leave it there so people will know about it.

Yes, but option #1 in my post above is a MUCH better solution for Larry because it disables more graphics.

We don't have any pop-ups! Never have...never will.

You are correct.
The low graphics mode removes the MercedesShop logo, the Fastlane banners and all advertising as well as the ShopForum Gallery.

When I'm on the road and have to use dialup, it's the way to go. It's the best fit for Larry, too.
