What are the requirements for the various member levels (i.e. Junior Member, Member, Senior Member, etc.)?

When/How does someone become a moderator. What do they do?
You should have even more levels for those who post more than 100.

PS what kind of Benz do you have Bill.

The way to become a Moderator is to raise your hand and volunteer to do the job whenever we need a Moderator. That's basically what happened when TXBill, our newest Moderator, took the job.

A moderator has to be very passionate and knowledgeable about the subject of their forum but, not necessarily an "expert". Their primary role is to keep posts on topic and snuff out any flame wars or objectionable posts. Basically keep the peace and make their forum an interesting, safe and comfortable place for other members to visit.

As far as my Benz...
I have a 1998 E430. Brilliant Silver on Black. If you look at the E430 in the Cars section of MercedesShop you will see my car sitting in my driveway.
My wife drives a 1995 E420. It is Polar White on Gray. Many of the DIY articles feature her car.
We LOVE that Mercedes V-8 power!

I would love to Volunteer to be a moderator on any forum you'd like. I'd like to give back to MSShop. I came close to buying a V-8 Benz however got the 98 E300D instead. Oh well, my next ar is going to be a 500E. Hopefully within a year or so.

I wouldn't mind being a moderator, but I'm not a experienced benz mechanic I do know it takes up a lot of time reading all threads in some forums.
I do spend a lot of time reading at this board Check in and out a few times a day .

I'd like to think that's true.
My guess is a moderator should have enough knowledge of the forum he moderates to decide if a thread is on or of topic.

Bill - what does it take to be considered a "tech"? Sometimes I fill in as the supervisor at the "autoshop" in the papermill where we maintain the "rolling stock". Lots of equipment (chip pushers) that are turbodiesels and put out ALOT of HP .

Jim-
Basically, we have considered "Techs" to be those who make their living fixing Mercedes. Nothing more scientific than that.

Thanks Bill

If I keep purchasing these old "no-rust" W123's that I find sitting around middle Ga I will have to "make a living" to be able to afford bringing them back to their original glory .

I don't do it to make a living - I do it for fun/hobby .

No.
Many of our moderators are not Techs.
