Can we have Youtube BBcode? - PeachParts Mercedes-Benz Forum

I like the video forum, but there are many times, I'd like to link a Youtube video while in another forum.

Can the "[youtube][/youtube]" functionality be added to the site or is there some reason it can't be?

I'll continue loving MShop either way, but it would be pretty cool.

The YouTube functionality is not a normal feature of the forum software. I hacked the video forum to allow the videos to play. I would rather limit it to one forum just in case there is a problem down the road.

I understand your concern. The way you implemented it in the video forum is slick.

I was wondering about a much easier way to add it. Like this:

That's an interesting way to do it but it only accepts YouTube videos.
The hack in our video forum accepts several other video providers as well.

Yeah, that's a problem I guess. There is a similar BBcode for adding Google vids too, but it seems that most people use Youtube.

As Hulu gets more popular, I expect to see a BBcode for them too.

I wish vBulletin would just add this as a standard feature because most sites want it. It makes it difficult on the forum members when they have to do something different with each kind of video they want to post.

Too bad they don't list a contact email that would be appropriate for petition emails.
