BTW, will this site ever be able to follow MB racing generally? Perhaps a review of the CLK GTR or the CLR?

Anyone got a site reference that talks about what went wrong with the CLR at Le Mans? $42 mil ouch!

Right now we don't have enough resources (read people) to cover MB racing. If someone wanted to Moderate a forum on the Shop Forum, we could add it.

As far as the flying MB's at LeMans, I discussed this yesterday with former Formula 1 driver, Rupert Keegan. He drove F1 from 1977 to 1983 for 5 different teams.
He said the problem was caused by shock absorber oscillation. His understanding is that at high speed the car's nose is bouncing up and down excessively. At one point the car bounced up high enough to catch air under the nose.

It was a once in a lifetime opportunity to discuss F1 and racing with Rupert. I could listen for hours to him talking about Hans Stuck, Ayrton Senna, James Hunt, Alain Prost and Jackie Stewart. Rupert was our instructor yesterday at Richmond International Raceway in the slalom segment. We were guests of Tysinger Mercedes-Benz in Hampton, VA. Needless to say, an article will follow shortly!
