Why don't signatures always show?
...and how come they are not retro-active?

Your signature will show up for all new posts but may not show up for old posts if you have never had a signature defined.
There is a "Show your signature" checkbox for each post your make. This box is automatically checked if you have a signature defined in your User CP. For old posts that were made before you had a signature, this box is likely not checked, so the signature will not show for old posts. If you previously had a signature and you change the sig, the new sig will immediately show up on all of your old posts replacing the old sig.

If my signature is already shown in a thread I generally don't show it again to conserve space.

Thanks for the explanation, Bill. It sounds like I would not be able to go back to threads, edit posts and have my signature show.... is that correct?
Compu... so you intentionally turn yours off on each subsequent post in a thread? Maybe there are some others who could learn from your practices. ; ) |

Yup, I try to remember to turn it off if I make more posts in a thread.
