Insults

I recently posted a thread about sub-frame removal and a user wrote I should get a book and did not mention any helpful details. Every question asked on this forum could get the same answer and we wouldn't need this forum. I asked him to give helpful details and I knew where the library was located. Another user insulted me and said I had a crabby attitude. Should I take this abuse or find another forum with mature adults who will take time to explain the best procedures and not direct me to another source?

If you stick around long enough, I think you'll find most of the members here aren't like the ones you mentioned. Although, looking at your join date, it looks like you've been around longer than most everyone. Nevertheless, don't let a few rotten apples spoil the whole bunch.

James

While i understand why someone will become frustrated when one hears a response that basically says "if you don't know what you're doing, you should get a book". In reading the thread, it appears that people had the best intention.

Knowledgeable people will respond cautiously if they don't have enough information and it took a few posts to get a clear picture of your situation.

I hope that you stick around, but if you don't, you'll find that it's usually the same faces on all of the enthusiast forums.

Unfortunately, you've gotten a taste of the worst element sometimes commonly experienced here.

The personal insults and hateful expressions are the way those with low self-esteem use to make themselves feel better about themself.

Dear OP,

Having read the original thread, I side with the general opinion that your attitude is the one requiring adjustment. You were offered fair advice and suggestions and you were the first to get cranky.

Being directed to the manual is fair comment; why should someone take the time to write a lengthy procedure for your benefit if you haven't even read the repair instructions? If you had said "I read the book, still not clear to me/is there a better way, etc", you would have gotten more help.

You might consider an apology to those you may have offended and aim to be nicer next time.

Pete
