New buttons?
What is up with the new "post new topic" button and the pumpkin orange buttons?
I liked the blue! |

Most commonly asked newbie question: "where is the button to make a new post or reply?"

I agree with TheDon, they look pretty awful.

We've played with the buttons for years on Pelican, trying to find the right colors to accent the "call to actions" required to participate in the forum. For seasoned experienced users like you guys, it's a no brainer, but for people who are new to the forum, the blue buttons are camouflaged into the background. The #1 most common question was "where is the button to post or reply?" The new buttons follow the traditional visual cues of what a button should look like - square, bright, and with standard shadows that subconsciously denote depth and thus the "clickability" of the object.
For those who are experienced forums users, these visual queues are not necessary. However, wanted to attract new members to join and post, these buttons help to reduce confusion. -Wayne
