Hi Bear

The web site here is www.mercedesclub.org.uk its a good site and they are very helpfull also.
So thats what it means when they have all the cars theyv'e had/still got,my god!,well like I say I dont think may like that over here with the price our petrol,do they know how much we pay here?,I know my mother/sister do,they are in NJ.
What do you drive yourself?thats the 500 se I have, and Iv'e been getting slagged from mates,as in"what do you want that thing for, with the price of petrol here!",and I know they are right, but I like my comforts that the thing.
Mind you,I also went "across the pond" to a site there (cant remember now, what it was) before I found this one here.I notice you say "the best Benz forum on the net",well it certainly has alot more "stuff" on it,either that or its the way its "layed out",and you guy's can also get photo's on yours,we cant do that yet,but I think they are working on it.
I know mine is an old model but I meant to put it through "Adobe" first to erase my plate,I dont like having that "online",no way!!,oh well,to late now I suppose!.
Well I'm off the noo',you can see what you think of the site here, compared to over there.

Regards

Thanks for the address I've been there before it's a good site, but I'm just addicted to this place!
I drive a 1982 w123 300D myself, and yes I get some stick but at the end of the day most of it is disguised jealousy. After all who wants a fiesta/corsa/montego etc that is worth less than their radio!
I had some guy going at work for ages, he asked me what plate it was on and I quite truthfully told him it was a Y.Seems fair he never asked which Y plate it was.He went round telling everyone I had a 2 year old motor.I eventually told him after 6 months that it was an old Y.Some folk deserve to be wound up.
Catch you later:-Bear

Hi Bear

Yep,it could be jelousy, cause' one guy I know seems to get some of my old cars (Senator was the last, the 24v CD model),he still me £100 for it,which I'll probably never see (I didnt sell it for that, its just the remainder I'm owed).
When I turned up in this it was like "where the hell did you get that and why did you get it",I just told him more/less as I said earlier (I like my comfort),I know he's dying to have a go in it,cause' where the photo was taken thats my mates garage, (not the one I'm talking about),I think he thought I was going to say "here you drive back to your house",but I thought, bugger you",no way!".
Even my mother here ,(I have two mothers),said "I'm not going anywhere in that, its to flash,I dont know why you couldn't just get a ford fester/Escort type thing".But I just wanted to be a bit diffirent, well among the people I know anyway, and not the usual "run 'o' mill ****".
I liked the way you kept that guy going, good on you,you should have got hold of an old starting handle or something like it,and said "here you probably need this again sometime, for the next time I wind you up".but I do think I'll see how I get on with this site,it really looks not bad.

regards

Funny thing you should mention Escorts(no not Jamie Theakston!)one of my friends is always prattling on about how cheap hers was, 150 quid.she is always saying why do I need a Merc?Well here's why in 2 years I've had or done the following work:-
1.Replaced radiator about £160 fitted
2.2 tyres £32 each
3.New fuel hoses fitted £10.
There are other enhancements but these are the ones that had to be done to keep the car roadworthy. She on the other hand in the last 2 years has had done:-
1.Welding to sills £300!!
2.New brakes £105!
3.Tune up and correct engine problems approx £180.
4.4 new tyres crap Kwik Fit ones £100
The list is longer than this but you get the general idea!My Merc is the best damn car I've ever had.Got to go now I've got to drive down to Folkestone in t'morning. Regards BEAR

Hi Jim (its easier than that other word!)

So thats all your cars,'mmm' very nice!I notice on this site you all (well nearly) put all youv'e either had/got below your name, why is that?,they dont do that on the site I go on here.
I think its good cause' then you see what people have had over the years, and probably what experience they have. The only thing I'm a bit wary of,Iv'e seen some people asking of certain products there,to clean things ect, thing is what would the equivilent be here?.I know my mother has brought over "stuff" before and it is damm good, but once it runs out,'mmmm' well I "nackered".
How do you find the rebuilt engine?,I'll tell something that car of mine (500se) has to be the only one in existance that doesn't have air-con or heated seats, every photo Iv'e seen whether it s there/here has this fitted,so it must have been a "cheapskate" that bought mine from new, cause' I know they are "optional extras" as Merc call it.

Regards
