Sorry to hear about this. I talked to him about a year ago I think he said he was in Idaho if I remember correctly. He sold me the rubber boot to my antenna on my C-230. It would have cost something like $150.00 from a dealer and I bought it for $5.00 (?) ( can't remember) anyway, nice guy, we had a good conversation. I'll definitely miss him.

PHIL!??
jeez... I just found out.
I am going to miss talking to that man. He always went out of his way to make everything 'work'...'right'... and customer's happy. Would someone at Peach Parts or his family be willing to post some select photo of Phil? I never met the man! Would love to see who it was I talked so many hours w/ on the phone. Please... Kindest regards and my sincerest condolences. Christian Colletti Smithfield, Virginia. |

RIP Phil
This is very sad news. Phil will always be the guy I could rely on to 'get it right'.
I can't tell you the number of times I've said, "call Phil, he'll get the right part for you". He will be missed. My condolences to his family. |

Here is a few more of my favorites I don't have recent pics on my computer until I get to Idaho tomorrow but can upload a current one at that time.
He turned out garage into a dance floor. Built it himself. This is before he added the hardwood floors. He loved to two-step! Love this picture. I will miss this smile. It warms my heart He was a goofball, always hamming it up. Here he is on an exercise bike eating pizza and drinking soda. He cracks me up Hamming it up again. He loved coca-cola products so he is showing off his santa glass bottles This was taken about 7 years ago. This is my dad, me, my husband James and one of our sons Quote:

Rest in Peace Phil
I hadn't seen this news until today. I'm very saddened to hear of his passing.
Phil was the most helpful person I've ever dealt with. He went out of his way several times with tracking down various parts I needed. He will be greatly missed. My thoughts go out to his family. I'm glad so many have posted so they can see how much Phil was loved and appreciated. -Dean Rees |

Sorry to Hear This News
Well, I am sure sorry to hear we have lost Phil. Condolences to the family.
Phil was instrumental in helping hundreds, if not thousands, of people keep their old Mercedes cars on the road. Cars like the old diesel 300D and 300SD are not only fun to drive (the sound and feel) but really very economical when kept over a long period of time - and well maintained. That's where Phil stepped in, parts for these old cars at reasonable prices. In my case, with the help of reasonably priced (and available) parts due to Phil, I have kept my 1980s diesel on the road for more than 10 years as a daily commuter car - more than 100 miles a day. I paid less than $2500 for the car because for people who haven't found PeachParts and Phil, keeping such a car on the road in running condition is impossible. So instead of having car payments for the past 10 years, the money has gone to supporting my family in a better way. Thanks Phil, we'll miss you down here. Ken300D

Loss for words...
Phil will be greatly missed for many many reasons. He always helped in a way that made a newbie (me 9 years ago) feel not like a fool. In the world of "who knows more about ???" ego...Phil never pulled the I know more than you, even though he really did in spades. I man truly with no ego and always sincerly helpful. He brought many thousands of us MB geeks and non-geeks alike together...and taught many of us to put our ego aside and just be truly nice and help one another by leading by example...one of his greatest legacies to all of us...and will be carried on. A huge loss to all of us. My condolences to his family.

We here on this site are inseparable
From the MercedesShop days here in GA to PeachParts to Pelican...
We here are not customers... we are friends. We do not just repair Mercedes... these cars became our way of life - they are a statement. Much like the days of horseback, your horse was who you were. Ride up on an older well trained stallion decked out in heavy well tooled leather, well the man (or woman) riding must be quite a character... (and boy are some of us characters ;-> My German car connection has run deep 20 years here in the Norcross/Duluth/Alpharetta/Cumming area, which are the roots of this entire worldwide community now. I grew up here until I joined the military, then returned 22 years later after retiring. These parts have/had characters who love this way of life and these cars such as Christian, Rich, Ken, Bill, and Donnie. (the Koerner family got me into the German car thing back in 1990, and its been an intense ride all these years). And then there's Phil. My heart is deeply saddened. I still have him listed in my phone as "Uncle Phil". I'd call Phil or Roy because I was in awe or need of car advice, and they'd turn the tables and draw me back into more sea stories of my Coast Guard days. All I can say is thank the Lord he knew Jesus. That means that the rest of us who do will someday see Phil again. I guess since the Lord drives Mercedes he needed Uncle Phil home. But all the same he will be truly missed. My heart goes out to you Jennifer and the rest of your family. Your loss is also ours, and we grieve with you. Until the rapture, rest in peace. /r CPO Chip Hoynes, USCG (ret)

To Philsdaughter, thank you very much for the pictures! He looks much like the person I talked to. I was taken back a bit when I heard of his death (or passing ) because I took it for granted he would be there when I needed him again.
Although I didn't know him outside of a few phone calls I can tell you that he was perfect for sales.. upbeat, positive, kind, helpful, and more importantly honest. I hope whoever replaces him follows his example. |

An Unbelieveable Man
Dear Jennifer,
I am shocked, stunned and sadened to hear of your Dad's passing. He was funny, humorous, intelligent and compassionate. I did alot of business with Phil over the years (about the last 5 with him). He was always upbeat and positive. He was in love with his family and his grandkids- he sent me a photo after the last one was born. What a gift to have a father like Phil. He will be sorely missed by many people. God Bless Him and God Bless his family! With great love and respect, Carl S. Back |

Phil
There's probably not much I could add to the meaningful words already expressed by those who knew Phil well or by those who had just met him. By serving those around him, his family and those on this forum, he was in essence, serving his Creator.
