I didn't know him personally, and never really needed to call. However I never needed any other site but this one and pelican parts to keep my Benz's running while I owned them.
My condolences to the family and friends R.I.P.

I'm very saddened to hear this news. My heartfelt condolences go out to Phil's family and friends.
I've been a member of this forum for almost 12 years, and spoke to Phil quite a few times by phone and via email over the years. I can't count the number of times Phil answered all of my questions and sold me the parts that I needed. Just reading through this thread I'm left wondering how many people Phil touched and helped... merely through this forum. All of these passionate DIY Mercedes owners... and all of us struggling to keep our labor of love running like the original engineers designed them. Without this forum, and without Phil, I can only wonder how many of us would have figured out how to diagnose and repair our own vehicles. I certainly know that most of the work I did on my own vehicle would have simply not been possible without this forum, without Phil, and without this great community that Phil created and fostered. Thanks a million! God Bless. And while my financial contribution maybe small, my heart weighs large right now.

Note
After six days working on it, I finally managed to complete sending e-mail notices.
More than a few of you will get a copy. It is brief, and directs everyone to this thread. Feel free to call me with questions. .

Phil
I am heartbroken to learn of your fathers passing Jennifer. Phil was a great man. I understand from your message Phil was genuine and a great father as well.
Don't know how Phil made time to call me and clarify orders whether or not I had questions but that is just what Phil did. I knew he was very busy as he would relate some of the things he had going at Peach. Phil called me on a number of occasions to answer questions about Mercedes parts or to diagnose. Wow he was amazing. He would make time to study the terrible Mercedes parts illustrations and help decifer the smallest details and parts in order. He was extremely personable on the phone and would pick up our conversation as if I was an old friend even though many months may have passed. Boy will I miss Phil and his friendly voice Jennifer. Can hear his voice announcing himself after calling me. I cannot begin to imagine the tremendous loss to you. I am very fortunate to have known him in this forum and that he shared himself like he did. You have been very Blessed by God to have been given Phil as your daddy!

This breaks my heart. Phil was the absolute best at what he did. I developed a real affection for Phil over the years for the many times he helped me with, for me, tough and important problems.
My best to the crew at Peach Parts and my deepest condolences to his family and friends. David Sears |

Phil gone?
I can't imagine this board or FastLane without Phil. He seemed to be the guy that knew how it all worked. We've got Roy, and for that I'm very thankful. I'll miss Phil. We once spoke about why anyone would want an 80s oil burner. His remark when I told him I was going to hang onto a 300SD was 'That big roof and the shape of the car give it presence. Of course if you don't replace the seat foam it'll look like an old mans face'.
He had a sense of humor and enjoyed talking to us as much as we needed a knowledgeable voice on the other end. I'll miss him. Mike Moon 1981 300SD 290,000 miles

Just returned to the USA, saw whunter's email and am truly saddened. I found this website 17 or so years ago and I can honestly say Phil made it the only commercial website I have maintained a connection to past my first purchase. Never too busy, never heard "no" or "can't do that" from him over all those years. Phil was a special individual. My sympathies to his family and all the rest of us who will miss him. I know I will miss him, along with my two sons who have also come to depend on his friendly and helpful ways.
Jim

Rest In Peice my friend
Phil was a terrific guidance for me as a new owner of a classic Mercedes-Benz
300-E Sportline. My prayers and sympathy go our to his son and his new wife. He will be miss by many especially me. He was always patience with me and directed me to help solve my problems, I never meet Phil , but from what I read about him, I would of considered him a family member and a substitute dad. I lost my parents when they were very young. I really never got to know my father so con consider your self lucky to have had this man around you for so long. mortality can can not be measured by how long we live , "but what we give back to other and how how we live life to its fullest". George Bernard Shaw once said and I think it fitting about Phil{ There are something in life which cannot be learned quickly, and time which is all we have , must be paid heavily for their acquiring. they are the very simplest of things and because it take a person's live to know them the little new that a person gets from life is very costly and the only heritage they have to leave} Rest In peace my friend.
