The parts-desk culture sure has changed since Phil's passing
Called in for a price, remembering a decade of warm greetings, and Phil almost always working me a little bit of a discount. Whoever answered the MB parts line this time was short, curt, cold as ice, no fluff, no negotiations, tough $hit, sorry.

Bit of a random story - I ordered an antenna mast and a few other bits from Phil to give to my father as Christmas presents, and spoke to him over the phone to make sure everything I was to get was correct. Transaction happened mid-November - the week before Thanksgiving IIRC.
Fast forward to the second weekend in January... Got a call from him to make sure the parts were correct, and that they all worked. Surprised the hell out of me, but made me a customer of Phil for life. |
