How do the moderators here become moderators?

Out of curiosity, how have the moderators here become moderators? By request of existing moderators? By asking to be moderators? Are there requirements that have to be met to function as a moderator? Are there any moderators needed, or is PeachParts set?

Also, I'm relatively new here (member for almost eight months, and a lurker for almost 6 months before). Was Tow W. ever a moderator?

It takes cash, dedication to keeping the site owner's shoes polished, and you have to know the secret handshake.

Darn. I have no money, I've only polished shoes once, and I don't know the secret handshake.

Remember when we were on a road trip and you gave me a secret handshake? Is it anything like that one? :P

Moderators are first administered a masochistic examination to see if they are qualified.

Sanity must leave you first, than you can mod.

mod what?

Skid Row Joe 04-28-2013 11:13 PM

It's voluntary.

A better Q is why some of them lost their moderation power. ;) :D

I was an open discussion mod briefly but I don't admit to it.;)

This thread should be moved to OD. That way members may be more likely to comment. No one normally looks this far down the page.
Its funny that for some reason a few think its a position to be sort after.
We are lucky to now have a selection of good ones.

Does this "sanity" ever return or are you always going to remain without it?

Its interesting that 2 ex mods have posted but the current ones are staying silent.

You must be joking!!
Do you really believe the mods have power?

Mods on here can earn respect & just as quickly loose it.

Best any one wanting to be a mod go read "How to win friends & influence people"

Narcissism is probably more appropriate for some.

Who knows, it may enjoy a longer life here in GF. General Feedback forum is kinda dead, so this may liven things up a bit, eh? ;)

I have been a moderator since the site started.
Don't have any idea WHY?

No compensation & lots of work.

Guess it is just like having a JOB.

I do think that sharing knowledge is important & every once in a while
someone will be able to fix a problem with that shared info.
