I am trying to find the correct shock for the rear hatch on my 1984 300TD wagon. The part that I received does not fit exactly. The hole where it connects to the body is larger. The fork where it attaches to the hinge is not wide enough. The end of the fork however can be unscrewed. Also the hole through the fork is smaller. Is there a replacement fork that I can buy? Is there another solution? Thanks for your help.

I am trying to replace the shocks on my 84 TD also.
The ;part is123 980 00 64 , also known as the gas pressure spring.
Is this your p;art number?
Perhaps you can tell me how you removed the trim st the rear?
I took off all the trim screws, but could not remove the trim to access the shocks. Does it bend, slide or what?
