how can i remove the analog cellphone? (1992 300SL)

hope you can give me some help on how to remove the old analog cellphone keypad which is installed in the spectacles compartment? do i just pry it off with a screw driver?

If you slide a butter knife along the top you will find two finger latches that hold it in. These are roughly in the center maybe two inches or so apart.It is in a frame that surrounds the entire control head. The control head is held in the compartment by two screws from the top and square nuts. There are two screws in the back and you can work the entire compartment out. I immagine you could loosen the square nuts, but you could loose the screws, to who knows where. If you do you can pull out the two cables and leave them behind the compartment to the side I glued some fuzzy (black) velcro over the hole.
You can get rid of the console portion by removing the bottom screws, and removing all! If you brush up the nap it should look pretty good, I found some black sticky stuff almost like tar/putty and worked it slightly into the holes from the bottom, cant tell there were holes there
