Door check installation on R129

I have the part, but the dealer quoted me $220 just for the labor, sheesh. I am able to take the door skin off, and it looks like it is only 3 screws, but my concern is will I have to remove the regulator, is this why the dealer is quoting me 2 1/2 hours labor?

Thanks for your great help!! LOL.

As long as I dont have to remove the regulator I am not worried, just wondering why the dealer wanted 2 1/2 hours labor on it?!?!

Door check=door strap, you know to keep the door from opening too much! Mine snapped on the inside and now I have the much complained about loud pop when using the door.

No one on here knows how to replace a door check/strap?! Wow, pretty sad. The job took me about 20 minutes to do, so I am still quite curious why the dealer wanted $220 just for the labor.

Did you remove the door panel or did you simply unhinge the pin and worked it out? The drivers side makes the most "clack" sound.

Maybe they just wanted to, uh, take a "boat load" of your money?

I couldn't remember the details beyond removing the inner door panel. Did you just remove that and the speakers to do it?

I removed the door panel, removed the speaker baskets, and voila, the door check was a simple 3 screws to remove, and I mean simple. The door pin came out very easily with a mallet and a piece of cardboard to protect the paint. If it even took 20 minutes I would prob be lying, I could not believe I actually found an easy repair on a MB!

Still curious why the dealer quoted me $220 for just the labor on this job!!
