Differential swap 78 450sl
I will be searching the self service auto wreckers in my area for a good differential. Mine sounds like a jet engine, coasting or in gear, at any speed above 10mph. On a lift, the sound is coming from the differential (wheels supported). What models should I be looking at to find a rear end w/ similar gear ratios, mounting points, etc.? This group has been such a valuable resource for me, and I make it a point to search the archives first, but I haven't found this info. yet. thanks, Doug in Sacramento.

Presumably you have a 107.044 VIN.
According to the CD, you want a rear end from a 1974-1980 US-spec 450SL or SLC. It is a 3.06 ratio - 52 teeth on the ring gear, and 19 on the pinion.
