Trunk will not open
Folks,
A friend in the MB club was tinkering with his rear trunk lock, when he re-assembled it he closed the trunk to see if it would fasten properly. He then pushed the button and it would not open, tried locking and unlocking the car several times, nothing would get the trunk open. This is a 96 SL320 just like mine, same color and everything, that is why I took an interest in trying to help him out. You can't access the trunk through the rear seat because of the convertible, and there really is no way I know of to get inside. Does anyone have any ideas how to fix? Maybe this has happened to someone before? Any help would be appreciated. Best Regards, Brian

There is a long post on this Forum, written a couple of weeks ago, about dealing with this on a 107. Dunno if it will work on the later cars, though.
Gilly - need your advice here!

Just FYI for everyone, the fix to this was to problem was to remove the license plate light and by using a small pair of needle nose pliers pull the rod and pop the trunk. Happy Benzing!
