107 Die Cast

I own a 1980 450SL. I'd like to find a die cast model of my car, or at least of a 107 of a similar year. I've spen quite a bit of time searching, and all I seem to find is a lot of newer MB's, and a lot of older MB's, but very little from the 70's and 80's. Anybody know where I can find one?

Plenty on eBay, M-B sells them also. Problem is, they are almost ALL euro headlights, bumpers, front, etc. I wish I could find a US model, even plastic.

I have one by Sunstar. Try this site: http://www.sunstartoys.com/product.htm
I also built a 1/12 scale plastic model of one, but that is out of production. You may be able to find that on e-bay. Good luck BOB

Everything I find on Ebay is of the euro models, and even those seem to be in short supply compared to the newer MB models.

Just saw a red one in a hobby shop in Columbia Mall in Columbia, MD. Not sure if it has Euro lights and bumper or not. I almost bought it as I also collect SL die cast, and it is the only one I do not have out of the entire SL series.

The 1/12 scale model I built was made by Otaki. It has been out of production for a while. I got it on e-bay and it came from Japan, with the instructions in Japanese!! The Pix were pretty clear and having model building experience, it was easy to figure out. It had the option of US or Euro bumpers and lights and different wheels. I matched the interior and exterior paint, and it looks pretty good. If I can figure out how to post a picture, I will. Do a Google search on Sunstar or Burago diecast models. Franklin mint made a diecast model years ago, with mini leather driving gloves and the whole bit! Pretty expensive as I recall. Good luck.

die cast

Chris, I found a Franklin Mint die cast on e bay, it is a MB 450SL, it is an earlier car becuase it has the small bumbers, it is an american model because it has americean headlights. Comes with minature golf clubs, tennis racket and balls and gym bag, it is not cheap but it is a beautiful model, blue with saddle tan like interior. This may be hard to find becuase it was a special addition but well worth the search to find one. I have a 57 560 that is midnight blue so was overjoyed to find this blue one. Hope you have good luck.
