Questions about MB replacing 107 subframes??

I've heard that MB will replace the sub frames on 107's for zip! Is this true?

If so, what are the qualifications?

I will have to be doing a lot of front end work on my 107 including control arm bushings, ball joints, tie rod, as well as motor mounts.

It would be nice to have a new sub frame too! BB

Do a search?

I know it was restricted to certain years and I think it had to have a crack. If I recall, MB would weld in a support plate, not replace the sub frame. Is there anything wrong with your sub frame?

107 subframe replacement by m/b

I had a crack develop i my 1977 450sl. There was a official recall on these and may stil be in effect. My local garage found this and then I made a complaint through the mercedes headquarters in monvale, new jersey. I Had the subframe replaced at the garage, and they returned the part to mercedes. The repair kit is long out of stock, replacement is the only safe way. The crack was at the upper control arm bushing creating a dangerous situation., It will take lots of pressure to get some thing out of mercedes. Consider that my car was serviced by the local dealer, and although the recall was in effect, they never checked or notified me!After the complaint, I receivd the recall notice in the mail! Partial settlement was reluctantly made. bring car to the dealer then complain, may be better result. Have paperwork if you need it. good luck Abe G

Sub Frame

I just had my 78 450sl subframe recall done at the Mercedes dealer last summer. Records indicated that the recall had never been prerformed and Mercedes honored it in 2003. I had to pay about $300 for some misc parts I had replaced, but got a brand new unit.
