sl colors, inside and out

I have an 87 560 sl that's going to be completely painted (everywhere, every inch) and we're going to replace the interior. What should we do about colors? Looking for opinions, and also opinions on paint brands/sources. Thanks.

I would check on the availability of consoles, visors, dashes, etc some colors are almost impossible to find before you make your selection. The door skins are to be found but the kick panels and rear cargo panels are probably tough. The seats, carpets and things are available from some good sources, GAHH, Bill Hirsh, Performance Products!

Glazurit - very expensive --if you want the best

Sikkens - very good -- pricey but will deliver a very deep and lasting shine

ICI - very good about the same as Sikkens , with the same results

all three are Mercedes used paints , Dupont and PPG just don't deliver real deep luster that Mercedes has

I am currently in the process of refurbishing my interior of my 80 450SL. There is a thread in diesel on going about using vinyl paints, and dyes, for repair, or refurbishment. You could change the entire color of your interior to whatever color you wish, and cheaply I might add, and without sacrifice of quality. BB

I seem to remember that thread in diesel, but because there are numerous cracks in the dash and because the interior is gray (strongly prefer one of the camel shades and would like input on this -- what is the name of the very dark camel?) we think we'll just replace the whole interior. Not cost-effective, but ultimately what we'll be happiest with. The dark navy sounds pretty. Where can I go to "see" that color? Thanks.

How about "tobacco" seems I've read several ads referring a dark brown MB interior as such!

I would be interested to know too what dark blue with grey is? My 107's body is midnight (dark) blue #904, and interior is leather grey #238. It really highlights the lighter shade of the zebrano wood console I have also refinished. I suppose these colors could be reversed and look great too! Wonder which he meant?

I will try and post some pictures this week of the progress on my 107. The weather has been overcast a lot lately!

The sites referred to earlier in this thread all are excellent, as is the advice to check on color availability. Yes, the interior color I prefer is tobacco, but it doesn't look like we're going to find all of the interior components for an 87 560 sl in that color and will have to select something else. Several sites, though, refer to the chassis by numbers, as you did when referring to your 107. At the expense of sounding like a total novice (guilty) how can I determine what my car is so that I can ensure we're ordering the right parts?

Lots of leather color swatches on those sites but NOT paint colors. Where can I find those? Thanks again to all.

Among the "modern" colors saddle is darker than palomino. Before that there was bamboo and cognac. I think midnight blue and saddle is a great color combination.

Midnight blue and saddle does sound nice! Is saddle readily available for the whole interior? Any metallic in the blue?
