1972 SL. Are fuel lines replaceable?
I am restoring a 1972 350sl. My mechanic suspects rust in the tank and questions the fuel lines. Are they at all restorable? How complicated (meaning $$$$$ cha-ching!). Anyone cares to share their experience?

hey abdoul, i owned a '78 model some years back, lovely car untill the fuel system started giving me problems, i went through 3 fuel distributors and finally decided to give up because i could not get the V8 to run smoothly. I suspect it was the same problem, rust in the tank and lines. ask for quotes from the shops.

Anything can be fixed but there is a product that coats gas tanks and the lines can be replaced or made up by a shop. It's not terminal but if you have to pay a shop it could cost a lot. THe tank has to be removed. It's a big job.
