1985 380sl cold start valve.

Is there anyway to test the cold start value. I disconnected the connector to the valve. It didn't make any difference when the car was running and when I first started cold..

I had a lot of problem starting the car a while back. The car would started but after 1 second and stalled. I would have to wait a min or so before the same thing happen again.. But Last week, I started the car again and ran. no stalling.. tried a few days later.. no problem... that really got me going. So I figure that I looked into the cold start valve first..
Thanks

BTW.. The wheel I got 15x6.5" ET30 fit prefectly on a 85 380sl..

I pulled the valve out left fuel line attached put voltage to it and and watched the spray pattern
Spray looked good left it alone
Worked for me
P.S. be careful of the raw fuel spraying into container!!!!!

Pull it out and leave everything connected. Point it into a jar. Unplug the coil wire, and have someone crank the car (cold). You should see a spray for 2-3 seconds at 32 degrees or so.

Depends on temperature, the condition of your injectors, your basic mixture setting, your warm-up compensator, and your engine's compression. If it is above freezing and everything else is in good shape, you might notice some more cranking, but it should start. But if it is colder, you are leaking fuel/air past valves & rings, your injectors have leaked down, and the mix set a little lean, and maybe the warm-up compensator isn't working as it should, then the shot of gas from the cold start valve could be critical.

What I meant to say in the last post is that for the cold start valve to work, you also need the thermo switch and relay to be working so that the valve gets current for the appropriate amount of time.

My car mysterious could started about 2 months ago. No problem whatsoever. I changed out the cold start valve and idle control valve in the mean time just in case. Well I went to start the car again today.. nothing.. just like before. It would start for 1 sec and stalled out.. What else can I check? I also check the ignition timing when it was running. it is 20 deg BTDC. what is the correct timing?
Thanks
