Not sure where the cold weather option comes in to play but interesting that the car spent its first 7 years in South Africa.
Are you going to persue the dealer in So. Africa for more info? Is your car still the same color? And does it have or not have the 450SL badge on the trunk lid?

Wonder where that hydraulic piston pressure reservoir is? And being a grey market car, there isn't likely any polution devises installed and if not I would guess your car is faster than the US version. The reason MB used this big engine was to off set EPA requirements and still retain power!

Wonder what other suttle differences there might be? Would love to see a picture of your car. I will be posting some pics of mine this week if the weather is good. I have just started to work on it and have many things already finished waiting to be reinstalled.

Hello BusyBenz
I doubt that I will pursue the South Africa dealer who originally had the car. I don't have a clue on the cold weather reservoir but when my paper shop manuals (found on Ebay) come in, I will let you know what I find. The paint is original and in beautifull condition apparently always garaged. The leather seats don't look so hot so the previous owner put come cheap seat covers on the front. I will change to the new MB-Tex vinyl. I included a link where you can view the photos as it is. The body and paint is absolutely beautifull.............

Not sure what you mean by the badge?? Also, it has had some pollution control added because it has a catalytic onvertor and has passed the pollution test. Not sure what else has been added. Note the the Euro tail and also the front bumber is different. It is chrome wrapped all the way. It has the Euro headlights and also the simpler (more reliable?) heat/air controls.
Glad to hear you have got a project going as well. Let me know if I can help!!

Eric

Very nice looking! I do like the color combo. My car is midnight blue with navy blue soft top and with light grey interior.

I did see that your car was provided the hard top as listed. Did you get the hard top too? I saw a hard top laying against a fence behind a MB specialists shop yesterday, but no 107 to be seen! My HT has some rust on the top where it meets the windshield. I've had it on for one drive and decided I liked the soft top better. I plan to have a waterproof cover over the car, a garage would be better but I have none.

Will post some pictures of mine soon...............BB

Thanks BB for the feedback. It does include the hardtop as well which was in the same excellent condition. I would enjoy seeing your car when the phoots are ready. I like the blue combo as well but heard thta the blue dashes carack for some reason. Did you find this to be a problem?

Actually the dash is black on top and grey below, the same color grey as the rest of the interior.

There are a few minor cracks in the black and have yet to refinish the dash. everything else is done and waiting to go back in. I also have heard that blue MB dashes crack also!

My new Canon digital camera is supposed to arrive today via UPS. The old one died a couple of months ago, a fatal fall! So if the weather is not rainy tomorrow, I'll shoot some pics and then postem here. BB
