Is it now time to split into R107 and R129 forums?

Seems like this forum is growing at reasonable rate and while the SLs have obvious similarities (typically styling) they are in-deed quite different beasts when it comes to most the issues posted here.

Just wondered what others thought.

I'm interested in both; I'm also interested in the SLK and the R230. The "SL forum" seems to have enough room for us all.

If the Moderator wants to do it it's OK with me. But I find the "diesel group" covers quite a large spread of cars and we don't seem to have any problems.

Think about it.
W116, W123 ,W126, W124, Etc.
And the engines, 4 cylinder, 5 cylinder, 6 cylinder, turbo, non-turbo. Etc

I personally feel the SL forum is fine as it is. But then again I'm just a guest here.

However, and please don't take this wrong, I do find more "wrench turners" in the Diesel discussion. A little less DIY advise in the SL disscusion. Guess I'll try to change that with my SL work.

One day you get a post that says "where is everybody in the SL group" the next you get "let's split it". I'm happy with the SL group staying intact as I have interest in all SL's. There are lots of commonalities among these cars yet.

I'm not sure how to take that! I tend to over react and go to extreme thinking for reason of what exactly motivates this idea, and I've already said enough!

The people who are members here at MBshop, including all forums here, are of the truest of MB enthusiast and are genuine. None put themselves above another based on any measure, all share and treat each other equally reguardless of their pecking order in life, or leage of car they drive, and is the reason why I post here. Snobery isn't present in these MBshop forums, and I hope there never will be! .........BB

SL group seems fine as it is. It ain't broke so don't.........

Another thought; maybe the Diesel group seems to have more wrench turners because, hmmmmm....they need more? Just kidding...

Cheers,

I vote to leave it, while I have a R129, I would love to find a good 107 as a driver. Not the great one I looked, I wouldn't even have considered it as a daily.
So I'm interest in both.

Please, Please I'm not pointing to a "snobery" or anything like that. I do realize that the SL is a much more complicated machine compared to the Diesel. And this leads to having shops do more work on the cars than the Diesels. OR its just my perspective. I feel this with the 88 560SL I have, verses the 300TD and my daughters 240D. The diesels are a much easier car to work on. My SL has an annoying miss after starting and analyzing the engine requires more equipment than I have, and I have an extensinve amount. The SL has more computer controls than the diesels. And I'm just talking about the 107 body. The 129 is so much more complicated.

I do agree that this forum is the best I have ever seen for Mercedes. I salute its members and thanks to the Moderators and financiers of this site. The only other site I have ever seen that compares to this one is Vintage-Mustang.com. A site much like this that supports its members and provides a tremendous service to the group.

Hey I wish the 113 guys would post here.
The only thing here that is a tiny bit disconcerting are titles that are non descriptive. Give a clue as to what I'm getting into..lol. Not a biggy...I'll live

Personally, I think think its time the 107s went into the vintage category.
