Engine Noise, very embarassing
Ok, heres the deal.....
I have a 1991 500sl. 95% of the time I slow down for a speed bump I can hear a tack, tack, tack noise coming from the engine. It generally sounds when I take my foot off of the gas to slow down. Anyone out there willing to lend a hand? I think it might be the tension on the belt. If this is the case, can I tighten it? I'm a DIY kinda guy. Thanks in advance gentlemen.

Sounds like it could be a valve or a lifter noise.
M119 engines are know for oil tube problems. Very documented and fairly cheap to fix. Do a search on this site for "oil tubes" and you'll get a lot of results, with pictures. Better yet, check out Jim F.'s website, menu 19: http://pages.prodigy.net/jforgione/MB_S500.html
