450SL saves a life

On the local news tonight:
Mom and daughter get in car, mom goes back into the house to get a hat. Girl says she accidently kicked the gearshift from Park into Drive (seems to me she'd have to PULL it, not kick it). Car rolls into ravine, falls 20-30 feet, and lands upside down. Girl has minor scratches. Hardtop of SL is crumpled, but the windshield didn't fold.

I figure the mom will sue Mercedes for a "faulty gear lever" when she should be grateful that the windshield was built like a rollbar!

It amazes me how the SL's are overbuilt with safety protection. In looking at the video, the hardtop is crumpled and still attached but the A-pillars are still standing tall and proud!! I'm sure this woman will buy another Mercedes.

Cool video. Same color 107 as mine. I've got hubcaps though and rarely put the hardtop on.
