Best rotors for the $$$: '85 380

Looking to the rear brakes on the SL. Any first hand experience on rotor brands to use? I was very happy with a brand I used for my BMW 740IL....Balo rotors. Quality was excellent and the price was unbelievably low. However, I think they only manufacture BMW products (Am I wrong about this?).

Suggestions on good pads are welcome too. My requirements are NO squealing and good stopping capabilties.

Thanks!

No need for a smart A$$ answer. I'm also looking for first hand experience on the different brands as well.

I think it was Balo I used to replace the front disc's on my 450SL. They were $36 ea.

My experience with pads is not to buy cheap ones as they tend to squeal. Also, last year I put ceramic pads on my 87 300D and they stop very well too but the big advantage is that there is no black dust, so your wheels stay clean!

Busy thanks for your feedback.

Whith my wheels I'm least concerned with brake dust. My impression was that the harder the compound (usually because of a higher metal content) the higher the chances of squeal.

What brand of ceramics did you use?

The ceramic pad set I bought are called Pro-Act, (Akebono) Ultra-Premium Ceramic Disc Break pads. 100% asbestos free.

I have had no issues with them and have no black dust either. I think I paid $54 for the front set, rears?

I've done OK with the Balo's on several 107 cars and our 95 c220.

These folks, www.**************.com , have a special pad for the rear where the squealing comes from that totally stopped the noise on mine.
