Heater problems
Hello,
I have a 1984 (Euro) 280sl and have had a similar problem. In my car the problem was a worn out heater control valve. Have your mechanic or a knowledgable MB gear head check it out. I hope this helps! Carrie

My SL had the exact same problem and the fix was simple. I checked the black plastic cover plate that goes over the blower motor compartment (about 18" by 8" at the back of the engine compartment) and found that the rubber gasket that sealed it was completely deteriorated. It allowed any air passing over the engine to pass into the inside of the car. In fact, as I found out, that was the easy way to know when a fuel line leak happened! It took a little searching, but once I found the right gasket material of the proper thickness and width and that sealed her up!
Good Luck, Scott 74 450SL with 211K |
