Shipping a 107 Muffler

Has anyone ever had a muffler for a 107 (with the really long pipes) shipped UPS? I just got one in damaged, I don't think it was well packed (UPS will certainly deny any claim). Of course, it is foolish these days to ship anything UPS that is not capable of surviving being thrown overhand. Although I was home when it was delivered, the UPS guy dropped it (literally, from the sound) and ran like hell.

The top was dented, the tailpipes are slightly bent askew, and the muffler tip ends are bent in and look like they were dragged. Incredibly, the seal ends to the cat converter is OK, probably because that end is lighter.

I don't know what the supplier will do - I'm certainly not going to pay to send it back. It MAY be possible to repair it - the tips can probably be bent and expanded back out with a tailpipe expander. The dents on top look pretty cosmetic and won't show when installed.

Is it even possible to ship one of these damage-free? If so, how was it done?
