Heatercontrol levers 1970 280 SL
Hi,
Does every early SL have broken heatercontrol levers ? It seems that nobody fixes them, present company included, and just lives with it. Well that just woun't do for me !!!!! I think the parts are available at $45.- Bucks a pop. So far so good, but how do you change the darn things ? The Haynes manual is the pits and tearing into the dashboard scares me. I am a automechanic and usually don't scare that easy. Any advise ? I promis, I will pass on any tricks of the trade that I seem to be worthwile as I come across them. |

No experience of the heater levers whatsoever, but getting into the area is fairly simple if the early 107s are the same as the late ones. Pop out the ashtray, then remove its metal shell by removing two screws and taking the right side out first as the electric feed is on the left. You should now be able to slide out the panel that holds the levers--at least, that's the drill for my 1989.
