Strut mount removal question SL500
On a SL500 1998. Can the front strut mounts (under the hood) be replaced without the use of a coil spring compressor? I know with some cars the mount can be replaced withought disconnecting the lower part of the strut.
Autozone rents two types of coil spring compressors that fit inside a coil spring. They also have the Macpherson strut spring compressors that fit on the outside of the coil once a strut is removed. That wont work here cause the MB coil is held by the arm and not the strut.
