Bent wheel

I bent one of my wheels today. Fellow coming towards me on a narrow country road nearly ran me out of the way, I was forced to put a wheel on the verge and there must have been a rock there. The rim is ever so slightly flat. Is this something I need to attend to immediately? Or can I ignore it for a short while? The tyre does not appear to be damaged and I do not notice any change in the handling.

I have seen people run wheels with a flat spot on them for years. You can even get them balanced with no problem. We mount and balance a lot of tires and a lot of people have these flat spots on the inside lip of the wheels and never know it.

I bent my wheel when I hit the curb last year on my 300E, and never bother to have it fixed. The car runs fine and there seems to be no effect on handling and tire wear.
