88 560SL Handling Like Crap

I have a 1988 560SL. Recently, it feels like I'm driving on a half flat tire. I've checked the tires, all are at 34#. Lugs are tight. What gives??

Might be your front sub frame mounts.

Get under the car and check the sway bar links, front and rear. These may be badly worn and loose, or one may be broken. While you are under there check the steering links. Do all this with the car up and blocked so you can shake all the parts to locate any loose bits.

If you don't see anything obvious, have it checked by a shop.

My next step was to put it on a lift & ck everything, then back to the shop.

Check Relay Fuse

When I had a problem with my 89 560sl, the mechanic mentioned that it was riding rough when they took it for a final road test. They then found out that its computer relay fuse was blown and replaced it. Voila!. It started to ride fine.
Just a thought.

Lots of miles? Rubber bushings get old...

Rear sub frame mounts along with the differential mount will make a big difference in the way the car tracks. If it wanders around, this could be your problem. Replacing all the body rubber helps the ride and handling. Good luck
