Wow, I remember seeing your car in Mission Viejo.

I didn't know you got hit.

Is your car still as clean as I recall?

what kind of air cleaner do you have on that engine? What did it cost to pull that dent out of the door. I have a similar dent in the driver's door on my SL. I bought the car that way.

Yeah, just noticed....very interesting air cleaner.

Note that his car is a very rare in the U.S., Euro model 500SL.

It puts out more horsepower than our 560SL.

Suginami,
Yes it's still very clean, I don't drive it that much anymore. It's a real garage queen now.

Rick,
I use a Edelbrock Air Cleaner. They had to put a new door on it, the door was around $500. Total insurance job was $2500. To get the car painted it's going to be around 5k. So all in all, not a bad deal for me.

I have those same wheels and a chrome cap for one of the lug nuts is missing. My dealer says it's not original Mercedes. Anybody know of a source?

Your car looks identical to mine. Lapis blue with palomino interior. A fine combination. Hope the paint job turns out great!

My thought is that for the money invested in restoring and keeping my Mercedes in good working order, I still have an amazing classic car that looks and runs like new, always turns heads wherever I go and all for a total cost that is less than a new Toyota Corolla. I would much rather drive my 560sl (it's my daily driver with 118,000 miles on it)!!!
Good luck with the paint job, etc.

Re: Chrome Caps

TRY: performanceproducts4benz.com. They sell them there, along with every other odd part you could imagine... they will send you a free catalog for your model/year, which also has several useful exploded-diagrams of most systems in your car.
Good luck!
