107 Rear Diff Ratios??

Hello 107 Gurus,
I have a gorgeous '81 380SL that has +/- 220k on the clock and has had every little thing rebuild/replaced except the rear diff. She clunks pretty bad dropping into gear.
I need some info on rear diff ratios. Were the ratios different from the 450/380/560's? If so what were they (how big a difference)? I'd like to get a nice low milage used one and it would open up my options a ton if I could get any diff from '73-89!!
Thanks!
-Matt-

Check your flex disks

They will make that clunking sound. Diffs usually howl when they are going south and they last a long time.

I have an 1986 MB 560sl with 120.000 miles. I also had a big clunk when I put in R gear and slightly lower clunk when i put in D gear. The problem was in transsmission end I dont know exatly but the mechanic changed some rubber sealing and gaskets within transsmision, also the mounting and the clunk whent away. I had many mechanics looked for this problem and each of them had different opinion saying it is differential, driveshaft mountings...The only confusing thisng is that the transsmision sends a vibration to the driveshaft and the clunk can be heard at differential witch makes conclusion something is wrong with differential....This was not the case with mine. The problem was in transmission.

I hope it this helps.
