Unhappy Dealer Diagnostics

Hi guys,

I've have an issue with with ABS light and roll bar warning light flashing intermittently on my 92 SL500. This only really happens when the car is warmed up and doing motorway speeds (70mph+).

The ABS light clears if the ignition is turned off and the car restarted. The roll bar light just flickers on and off intermittently. I've tried raising and lowering the roll bar (works fine) but still have the problem

I've taken it to an indy place and they can't diagnose the problem and recommend that I take it to a dealer to have them diagnose the fault. They did say the only thing they coudl think of was the control unit.

At £100 an hour I am keen to avoid the dealer or minimise this. I've spent nearly £3.5k fixing stuff on this car over the past 6 months and am keen to minimise further expense. Had stupidly thought MB had far better build quality and reliability than this!

Does anyone have any ideas on what this could be? Will the dealer just be able to check the diagnostics log and solve the issue or will they just employ a potentially expensive process of elimination? Are the roll bar and abs systems linked in any way (electrically etc)?

Cheers for any help
