I have had the same experience in two different vehicles of the same style. 83 & 86 560SL - Assume that it is normal.

The car does not make any sound, I beleive it is the torque of the engine, when engaging the rear end, it pulls the rear springs downward. And the opposite is true, when it goes into drive. The rear of the car lifts up.
How many SL out there do the same thing?

Mine does the same, except in the opposite direction. When I engage the reverse while holding the brakes, the tail lifts.

Remeber this same discussion: Is this normal ?

It has been so long since I have driven my car I might have it backwards. I have all torn apart. New paint soon!
As far as I see, this must be normal.

Not only is it normal for the 107, but for some degree to any MB I've driven. It was quite marked in Dad's 108 280SEL, which he bought new in '69, and in his two 123 diesels. It has to do with the rear end geometry and its response to torque input at rest. Since the 560SL got a bit of tweaking to reduce squat on acceleration and dive on braking, I'd expect it's a bit less than on earlier models, but I still notice it on mine. Part of the uniqueness, in a way.
