129 key remote does not lower/raise windows
I have a 1999 SL500. The manual says that by continuing to hold down the unlock button on my remote for one second, the windows will roll down. Similarly, the manual says that holding the lock button on the remote when locking the car will roll the windows up.
This has yet to work for me (I did resynch the key but still no change) Also, when I manually unlock the car in the trunk keyslot and hold the key to the left, the windows will roll down automatically, but will not roll up when I lock the car with the trunk keyslot and hold the key to the right. Any thoughts? |

You are not alone on this one, mine works sometimes and most of the times it does not, I've try new batteries, polishing the red acrylic and it seems that it works when pointed towards another car window next to mine or my sunglasses, like the reflected beam works better than direct aiming, if I'm 20 ft or further it won't work at all unless I pointed to the car next to it or the house windows, I gave up on it out of frustration some time ago. The trunk stills works but if I do it that way then the trunk won't open from the dash or by pushing it from the key button so I leave it alone, I don't even lock the trunk anymore, it takes a while to get it right again, too much hassle, as long as it unlocks the doors I'm happy.
I am easy to please. Last edited by Carlos Serrano; 02-06-2006 at 03:19 PM. |

Strange, mine works flawlessly -albeit a '93 model.
I believe the IR module signal's the soft-top controller to raise the windows - maybe this signal isn't getting there? Lea

I too have the same problem, it seems to work just fine when I am on the r.h. side of the car and not at all when on the l.h. side of the car. As far as I can tell this system is part of the IR portion of the remote. Maybe we will get lucky and one of the techs here on the forum can solve this one for us.
