R129 Silver Arrow Overmats

Hi,

I have a 2001 SL500 Silver Arrow and am trying to get hold of the original mats with silver piping and SL logo. Only 100 of these were made in RHD compared to 1500 for the US and so far I've drawn a blank - can anyone in the US help?

Thanks,

I would suggest calling Mercedes salvage yards. It may be the only place to find a unique item like that. If not, try the dealer. you may pay an arm, a leg, and an eyeball, but you will get what you need.

These mats are listed in the dealer's parts catalogue and I don't think they're much more expensive than the regular jobs. However, I know nothing about availability. If that doesn't work, you may have to get some custom made by a trim shop. It shouldn't be too difficult a job for the right place; the ads int he back of the classic car mags might be a starting point for finding a good upholsterer. Lovely car, by the way, I often fancy swapping mine for a silver arrow.

I've tried MB (DCUK) - they said there aren't any. There were only 100 made so salvage isn't likely either Thought MB Dealers in the US may have some.

I will try to get my local MB dealer to see if they can order them. I don't know how possible it is, but if they ca, I will let you know. However, it will be an odd request, especially as we have left hand drive cars. I will call them in about an hours, as I am a bit busy right now.

I called them, and they can order the LHD floor mats, however they cannot find the part number for the RHD mats. They said it is a special order items, so it will be quite expensive, if they could order the item. The dealer actually reccomended going to the local upholstry shp to see if they could create a mat.

Go here:

http://slclublebanon.com/members.htm

The member Silver Arrow (Aziz Adhami) is also the club and site creator. Anyway, he sold me a set of SA mats and updated mirrors about 1 year ago. He has some kind of connection. I know for a fact that he can get the floor mats, the SA chrome side planks, and the 99+ mirrors.

His car is an early 90s SL that he converted to look like a SA.
