W107 cover for blower. I had the car

in the body shop to have some minor rust repaired and the air cleaner and the brake booster painted. All came out great. This weekend I wanted to remove the new cover I bought about a month ago and the Phillip heads screws are stripped. I have a tool for stripped screw heads, but I am wondering if the shop took this off. Their work orders are a work of art, everthing they do including remove items is shown and removing the blower cover housing is not. I check a local dealer and the screws are available, but I am wondering if I should go back to the shop and asked them to fix it. It doesn't show being removed and I know the owner quite well but he is very particular about his orders and if it is not there then they didn't do it???? I know I did not strip them installing the new cover, I just tightened them until they stopped. My blower is starting to get noisy now and then and I want to also replace the brushes as well as clean out the drain holes. I know I should have done this the first time around, but I was lazy that day.

Also here is a tip: the rear windows slats, have insulation behind them, also the rear drain holes of the sunroof if equippment run down on the back side of the this slats. there was a rubber hose which had gotten loose, and water instead of running down to the ground was going into the trunk, if you climb inside the trunk you can see the hose or part of it. I disassembled the passenger side, molding, rear seat bottoms and back rests had to come off. There are three screw that hold these flaps on, and in front they slide under some clips. But they have a foam insulation. After looking up the name in the shop manual, it come out to be nothing but colorfoam, a crafters product. It is similar to water pipe insulation but less then a 1/4 inch thick. I went to the Joann's fabric store and pick up to pieces. One was enought to reinsulate the one area, and toward the bottom of the slates the shop manual tells you to double up, as that is the spot the tube for the sunroof drain is routed. The colorfoam in black was $.079 a sheet a Joanne's. The german stuff is unavailable. but the last price they had was $5 a sheet. Also, mine was complete gone and in millions or tiny bits, took a air compressor to clean old the old junk out and open the slate drain holes on the bottom. Also, I used contact cement and a tongue dispressor to apply the contact and very gingerly at that, as this stuff is not strong and rips very easily. Also contact cement is great for vertical mountings and will stick to almost anything.

Have Fun
