Soft top not working after removing hard top

Hi,
Not my day today. After problems with warning lights on my girlfriend's 95 Mercedes SL320 (see other thread) we decided to remove the hard top as Spring is just around the corner. We had to unhook the roof manually and managed to get the convertible top to close. The problems started when we tried to lower it again. The red light comes on when then the roof button is pushed but nothing happens. Do I need to reset the system or is there possibly problems with the sensors or control module.
I would be grateful for any advice.
Thanks,
Colin

There are a number of things it may be - have a look here. If you keep trying the roof it will be inoperative for minutes to prevent it overheating. Take the key out of the ignition and wait. Open both doors, lower the windows manually after starting the car and try again. Try this a few times - windows up, windows down - if no luck then you're going to have to investigate furter - latches may be out of sync - ECU failed (worst case scenario ). Check the fuses first however!
