Heater/AC vac lines (73 450SL)
I have completed the repair on the vac lines for ignition and engine control. Now I need help with vac lines for the rest of the car.
I have 2 cross-over valves on the fire wall. Both look the same, 1 vac line nipple on top of each. 2 vac line nipples on the bottom of each. They each have a wire connection on the bottom. My question is - What vac line goes where? Any help would be great. Thanks

If anyone is interested, go to the Tech Section. Look up my post "Making our own vac diagram". MB. DOC really came through. It is all there.

JBR:
You need to look in the CD ROM manual, or the hard copy, and check job #83-020. This has the schematics for all the various heater/AC systems for the 450SL. The line layout is a bit too complex to describe in words alone. If you do not have the manual, send me an email address and I will try to send you the PDF file for the job. 230/8 p.s.: factory manual is available here for $20: http://www.classictechlit.mbusa.com/MB/ |

vacuum lines
The solenoid valves on the firewall in the 73 450 Sl control vacuum to the mechanical value that controls the heat. The mechanical value is on the firewall closer to the driver's side. If you have heat when you raise either of the outer levers in the climate control panel, and have no heat when both levers are down, then the system is working.
